Sport Programme

The Challenge 4 Change centre is unique and is designed and built with sports clubs in mind. Our trainers are experienced sports professionals and coaches and therefore can fully utilise the excellent facilities we have. We offer training programmes for individuals and teams alike. At C4C we believe in training the full body, including the mind. With the use of our assault course, high ropes activities and 13 stage aerial challenge course over 30 feet off the ground we have a truly challenging experience for all who book a session.

C4C believes all successful teams are strong in the following areas, which is what we will develop and strengthen:

"It was scary, but brilliant. It exceeded expectations. I wish we could go down there every week. It was as tough as anything we do on the field and it was great for improving team work and communication".

We use team building exercises which are specially designed to test the group as a whole and concentrate them on a specific task. Whether the teams are big or small with the use of our assault course we can take them to the limits of physical exhaustion with some of the most innovative types of exercises available. Coaching and managerial staff will get the opportunity to watch their players performing in a different environment and see how their players react to situations when stressed.

Talk the Talk

Communication is a key team skill. Some players never stop talking and others never start! How many times is this particular attribute, or lack of it, blamed for a team's failures? Not knowing what each player is doing can lead to a failed opportunity to register on the scoreboard. Passing on vital information between players, between coaches and players and between managers and players can become a simple task and give the team the edge over their opponents.

Working out the opposition

Problem Solving is a major part of our work and tasks are set from simple to hard depending on the team and their stage of development. Each player will be encouraged to play their part and contribute to a successful outcome. Using clear and simple instruction itself can be a challenge for some and we encourage this in all that we do. Also training players to listen is essential and often underrated.

When the going gets tough

Leadership Skills gives some the responsibility to lead from the front not just with what they do but also with what they say, how they look, react and what they don't say. Young players can learn from the experienced about how to control situations and even vice-versa.

100 great sporting moments

are about players who have extreme confidence in their own ability and take the risk even if failure is odds on. Success or failure can be separated by a very fine line and having a genius in the side can be the difference between winning and losing. Confidence and self esteem training through the use of our high ropes training programme will benefit all who attempt it. Our activities are intended to challenge and engender self-belief.

With over 10 years experience working in professional sport, especially with rugby players from Wigan, Widnes, Leigh, Lancashire and Scotland (in preparation for a big game which they won) we have gained a formidable reputation. Something different with a lot of basic application is our trademark. Our training works pre-season, mid season and end of season. The pre-season is designed to built a tight unit, mid season to iron out problems or as a team bonding session and end of season can be a reward.

As an example with only five days to go C4C were engaged to work with the Scotland RL Squad prior to a world cup qualifier. The squad had never worked together before and we had the challenge of getting the them to bond and work cohesively very quickly. After a days training with C4C a team had formed allowing the coaching staff to concentrate on match preparation. Needless to say they won!

Case Study

Swinton Lions

Challenge4Change is the perfect venue for sports groups wishing to train and improve their teamwork, and the Centre has been used by various ‘big name’ clubs including Sale Sharks.

They arrived, they soon amazed themselves by rapidly building in confidence and quickly moving onto activities and ‘stunts’ that they would have never imagined themselves doing only a short while earlier!

"As new coaches of Swinton Lions we wanted to get all the squad new and old in to a different environment for their first session. We felt that we wanted the boys to meet away from rugby and to do something that would help them instantly bond as a team, as well as giving them a good solid conditioning session."

"The club and players thought that the session was brilliant. They were amazed at how your session got everyone to gel together in such a short space of time. All the players commented on how tough the session was but how fun it was. The confidence and team work that we took from this environment has filtered through to our training camp with teammates giving each other encouragement while pushing each other to their limits and always keeping the focus on team work that was brought out by our visit to C4C."

"We had never met some of the players before and they had never met each other before this night but they are now working together like a team who has been in each other’s company for a long time and we feel it is down to the first session at C4C."

"We would definitely recommend this activity to any team who wish to become a highly motivated and ambitious team in sport or business. Its bonding qualities are second to none."
